What People's Say About Place

Tamarind Island is an absolute gem nestled in NW Alabama! I had the pleasure of trying both their curry and jerk chicken, and wow, they were both phenomenal! The flavors were rich, authentic, and perfectly balanced. I also indulged in their curry and beef patties, which were an absolute hit! The flaky crust combined with the savory filling was pure perfection. If you're in the mood for authentic Caribbean cuisine, look no further than Tamarind Island. I highly recommend this place to anyone seeking delicious food and impeccable service.

Staying at the holiday and walked to trader Joe's for snacks. Decided to stop at the camp to see what going on. Luckily I did because I came across this great place! I got the lunch specials thinking I would get some curry chicken and rice. LUNCH SPECIAL IS STACKED! FOOD SOOOO YUMMY!

One of the best Caribbean restaurants I’ve been to anywhere. I was a patron of Mango’s Caribbean, which was the previous brick and mortar for this restaurant. They provide both vegan and meat (regular) options. They have a Sunday menu with Fish Fry offerings. I always go for a Jerk and Curry Chicken combo and that’s what I did this time. You may think it’s pricey, but it’s a significant amount of food. It lasted me two meals. I was informed that you can only do half portions of the regular menu, but the vegan menu you have to get whole portions. The next time I come here, I want to try the vegan meals. They also have the traditional drinks like cola and mango lassi. There’s a lot of covered outdoor seating since it’s at The Camp.

Fun environment at The Camp. Food was delicious. I had vegan jerk BBQ. Only issue was there was so much sauce it had to be double checked at airport security. Sides were tasty as well but the jerk BBQ was the standout. I'll eat there again.

This is the spot of authentic Jamaican food! I have tried everything on the menu: Jerk Chicken, Fried Fish, Oxtail, and Curries. I haven't had a bad meal yet. Every item is flavorful and colorful. The best dish so far is the Curry Goal!

I loved everything about this place. Warm and friendly and plenty of food for the price. I had the chicken curry and could only eat half because it was so much on my plate....Love it!

I’ve been a customer of Chef Lauren since she had Mango’s. Her food has consistently been cooked perfectly. The jerk chicken is always a winner, but is definitely bringing that kick! The fried Whiting fish is a winner for sure. But the best thing here, is the Sunday Oxtails hands down! Today I got the curry goat, also only served on Sundays. The meat itself was just as tender and juicy as the oxtails however the flavor profile is completely different. If you’re going for something slightly sweet and rich, go for the oxtails. If you want that salty and spiced flavor, the curry goat is what you want. Chef Lauren and her staff are always friendly and quick!
